Poems can still be romantic

When in love,

you use to be my angel and my soul in the music I wrote

But then, I read, I learned, I realized

That you’re just a person I love

When in love,

I use to replace your name, with my eyes, my heart, my breath, my all

But then, I measured, I challenged, I analyzed

Now you’re just the person I love

When in love,

I use to fear your death before mine would clog my throat

But then, I asked, I comprehended, I memorialized

I store you till I die, as just the person I love

When in love,

I use to believe in heaven, to meet you again

But then, I imagined, I accepted, I materialized

Thousands of years won’t change the fact: you are just a person I love
